The Librarian

A book thuds
to the floor
Slid and pushed
from its place
above her glass's
rims she glances,
views the casualty
of the new stock-boy,
who scrambles to snatch
it up into his trembling hands
and quietly place it gently back
before her glare burns a hole in it.
